Doctoral studies

The aim of the doctoral study programme at the Faculty of Arts and Architecture of the Technical University of Liberec is to lead the teaching of art, design and architecture to effective ways of reflecting and updating the creative potential of these disciplines. Contemporary art, as well as design and architecture, are limited in today's late modern culture by the mechanisms of contemporary civilization, which in the vast majority of their action displace the application of relationships and connections between technically based everyday practice and socialized knowledge with art. The field of doctoral study "Fine Arts" is primarily based on the necessary interpenetration and mutual influence of individual creative disciplines, which is the focus of the bachelor's and master's studies at the Faculty of Arts and Architecture. If the fields of study of art, design and architecture are nowadays mostly profiled at universities and academies as specialized fields capable of providing the development of knowledge and skills in unilaterally defined programs, the Faculty of Arts and Architecture continues, especially through the newly accredited doctoral study program, to utilize the possibilities resulting from the relationships between different creative disciplines of art and scientific knowledge. The task of doctoral studies is to qualify doctoral students for the further development of creative thinking directed beyond the limits given by the nature of contemporary culture and civilization.
